The Very Best Of Jackson Browne

The Very Best Of Jackson Browne

If you were a fan of seventies singer-songwriters, you probably discovered Jackson Browne either through his association with the Eagles (he co-wrote their first hit “Take It Easy”) or, like me, through his classic concept album of life on the road, “Running on Empty”. At 2 discs, this set is a big improvement over the earlier “The Next Voice You Hear”, and it works...up to a point. It might just be me but it seems like around the time of “Lawyers in Love”, Jackson let his social conscience take over and he seemed to disappear from the radio airwaves. So while disc one is a solid collection of hits, disc 2 sputters about halfway through. And while it skips over great songs like “That Girl Could Sing” and “The Road”, there's still a disc and a half of solid classics of 70's FM radio.
