by Scott YanowAfter the Inner City label died, the talented singer Susannah McCorkle recorded three albums for Pausa before it too became defunct; however, all of those early records have been reissued on CD. For her tribute to lyricist Leo Robin (her first Pausa project), McCorkle beautifully interprets his lyrics to 13 songs, most of which were originally written for the movies. Best-known are "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend," "My Ideal," "Beyond the Blue Horizon," "Havin' Myself a Time" and "Thanks for the Memory" but there are also some fine obscurities on this date too; when was the last time anyone recorded "My Cutie's Due at Two to Two" or "A Little Girl from Little Rock"?
