A Bright Cold Day

A Bright Cold Day

Dutch is the seemingly unlikely duo of hip hop producer Stoupe and vocalist-songwriter Liz Fullerton. In 2006, while working on several tracks for Jedi Mind Tricks (including “Razorblade Salvation”) the two bonded over their contrasting sounds. They quickly began constructing their own full length album, A Bright Cold Day. The project was released in June of 2010 with the help of producer Scott Stallone. A Bright Cold Day is ten hand-crafted songs of Fullerton’s heavenly voice over Stoupe’s haunting production. Conjuring comparisons to the dark trip-hop aesthetics of Portishead, the soul-piercing melodies of Cat Power, and the wrenching sadness of Aimee Mann, Dutch’s music quickly found its way into different niches than both artists had previously inhabited. During their U.S. tour, Dutch was joined by guitar player and producer Ish Quintero, planting the seeds for Stoupe’s new production collective, Badtape Music. Six songs from A Bright Cold Day were remixed in an EP called The Wind Remixes.
