Extol Me
Ricky McMahon was born and raised on Chicago’s West Side. He became interested in the fundamentals of how music was composed at an early age. His passion for music and entrepreneurship sparked his creativity and led him to create his own studio in his residence. Since that time, Rick has become the founder of VocalTech Records. He is a brilliant self-taught musician who plays piano, guitar and programs beats. He is truly one of Chicago’s most talented producers, engineers and graphic designers! In the past he has worked for the Railroad and was the owner of a booming construction company. After that venture, Rick pursued a career in the music industry. His interests include all genres of music such as Rock, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Pop, Neo Soul, R&B and Reggae. Born into a talented, musical family, Rick’s grandfather, Andrew “Blueblood” McMahon, was also a musician who played bass guitar for Muddy Waters and other noted blues artists. Blueblood’s album, “Go Get My Baby” is still popular to date. Rick’s uncles are George, Kool and West who are professionally known as The Steelers”. It is because of his family ties to music that Rick became interested in vocal arrangements and was given an inside track on how the music business is ran. Rick’s talent extends further than that. He is a seasoned disc jockey whose skills pack the dance floor at every event! Rick is a phenomenal Stepper and is known as a “heavy hitter” in the Stepping community. He is one of the most sought after dancers and can make a person with two left feet dance like Ginger Rogers. Rick and his stepping partner(s) cause constant gapes when they are out on the stepping scene. Rick grew up in the 70’s where he learned to bop and two-step with his mother, Clara Ruth McMahon, which made it easy to transition from bopping to stepping. Rick has a great following and has been associated with several popular social organizations such as Umoja 6, Jade, Smooth Gents-Diamonds and Pearls, the founder of Magnificent 7 and The Mainstream Steppers. He is one of the smoothest, most unique master stepping instructors extraordinaire in the Midwest! He is patient and easy to follow. Due to his unique style of stepping, he is invited country-wide to teach stepping (six or eight count) and walking. Rick’s stepping background still plays a big part in influencing his music. Mission Statement: S = Smooth T = Technique E = Excellence P = Poise P = Perfection E = Entertain R = Ricky McMahon I give thanks to the universe for my many, many lessons and blessings.
