Video Killed The Radio Star EP
Back in the days when Newport was famous for fighting and everyone was skipping about to Brit Pop (a lethal combination, Im sure youll agree)Flyscreen were the big kids in the playground - harder, louder and angrier than anyone else. Together with 60ft Dolls, Dub War and Novocaine they created their own particular brand of post-grunge mayhem a punk-pop cocktail of thrashing guitars with pithy, often witty songs about school, football and shagging. Naturally fame beckoned. Following the release of two exceptional mini-albums Dap Bag and Council Pop Flyscreen were snapped up by the grande fromages at MCA/Universal, touring with the likes of Bush, No-Doubt, The Offspring, and Girls Against Boys, being tipped by the trendy haircuts in the music press and generally lording it about town. It all imploded of course, like all good things rock and roll, but thankfully the Newport punkerteers are back, with their first studio album since Girls Cant Make Gun Noises in 1998.
