In a quartet with pianist Tommy Flanagan, bassist Percy Heath, and drummer Albert Heath, Montgomery introduced his originals "West Coast Blues," "Four on Six," and "D-Natural Blues," performed his "Mister Walker," and stretched out on "Airegin," the ballad "Polka Dots and Moonbeams," "In Your Own Sweet Way," and "Gone With the Wind." All of the unique qualities of Montgomery's style are on display on this essential CD reissue, which is also available as part of his 12-CD Riverside boxed set.
