The Best of Charlie Wayne-The Metal years 1985-2005
Charlie Wayne's musical journey has been marked by success in both Rock & Country music - a gold record for his participation in the hard-rock outfits BULLETBOYS and HAWK, plus a Top 40 Country single ("Raised On Country"). There's a long musical history behind Charlie Wayne Morrill and the name of that tune goes something like this: at the tender age of five, Charlie got his first musical instruments...a harmonica and an old Sears Silver Tone guitar. Before that he was banging on everything with a wooden spoon...pots, pans whatever (and by the way his little son Max seems to be following in his father's footsteps). Charlie's own father Charlie Gail played with Freddie Hart, Waylon Jennings and Barbara Mandrell. Charlie says "I loved playing with my grandpa and my dad at Bluegrass hoe-downs, even if I was making up my own chords." Soon this Inglewood, California native began playing in bands like Pacific Breakwater, a Beach-Boys type group, then went on to join Lonnie Vincent's High Times band. Next he got his big gig when he played at Gazzari's on Sunset Strip. At 16 years old Charlie was living in Van Nuys California and was in the top drawing band called BLACK KNIGHT, which led him to becoming the front man with HAWK that featured Doug Marks, Scott Travis (JUDAS PRIEST) and Lonnie Vincent (BULLETBOYS). After that he performed in some of the top clubs in L.A 's West End with the BULLETBOYS and with other various bands comprised of members from GUNS N' ROSES, POISON, KEEL and KING KOBRA. In 1995 Charlie Wayne packed up his guitars, songs and family and moved to Nashville, TN. "After All," he says, "This is where some of the world's best musicians reside." Charlie formed the band Charlie Wayne & Crawdad Creek, forsaking his hard rock edge for a mix of Country and Southern Rock Charlie got back to his rock roots in 2000 in the form of the CHARLIE WAYNE BAND recording an album titled " Scarecrow" and later on a live album called " Unchained and Live". In 2003 Charlie recorded a solo album titled "This Train" that sold 500,000 copies in England alone. The year 2004 brought another effort from Charlie in the form of a band he put together called THE TICKS and they released an album appropriately titled "Infected". By the end of 2004 Charlie and his friend of many years Ron Keel (STEELER, KEEL, IRON HORSE) teamed up to form the duo KEEL & WAYNE. The project was Charlie's brainchild, grown out of a desire to team up and combine talents with his old friend who also had a similar background and style. By now the year 2005 KEEL & WAYNE has been touring across the USA playing KICK A** music to sold-out venues. They also have a debut video "I Gave It All To You" that is getting lots of airplay on CMT. Charlie and Ron have also formed another side project THE ACOUSTIC OUTCASTS. The OUTCAST'S feature Charlie and Ron plus Terry Ilous (XYZ), Kelly Keeling (BATON ROUGE, MICHEAL SCHENKER, and GEORGE LYNCH) and JK Northrup (XYZ, KING KOBRA) playing acoustic versions of their hits in a format that you have to see to believe! By the year 2005 Charlie has recorded and produced over 15 albums most of which he was singer/songwriter and has 6 gold record awards for his efforts. His newest effort is a compilation album titled "The Best of Charlie Wayne-The Metal Years 1985-2005". The album contains 18 tracks from Charlie's days with HAWK, THE CHARLIE WAYNE BAND, THE TICKS plus other solo projects. The album includes 4 bonus tracks, 3 of which are live tracks recorded at The Outer Limits in Nashville, Tennessee featuring cover tunes of FOGHAT'S " I Just Wanna Make Love To You" and BULLETBOYS "Smooth Up In Ya",Charlie's former band. Also included on this album is a brand new track featuring Charlie and Ron Keel called "Come Home With Me". This is a must have album for any 80's metal rocker. BUY IT, YOU WON'T BE SORRY! The year 2006 saw Charlie as a very busy man! Besides continuing his solo career Charlie rejoined the BulletBoys touring across the country opening for Poison and Cinderella. Charlie also had something else big happen in 2006. He was asked to take his good friend Ron Keel's spot as frontman for IronHorse when Ron left to concentrate on his other projects. Charlie took the bull by the horns as IronHorse played acrooss the country at many big events as well as working on a new IronHorse CD. The CD "Change My Religion" is now available on the IronHorse site and look for IronHorse to come to a venue near you! Charlie endorses DEAN GUITARS. Charlie has had lots of guitar companies behind him in the past but none have taken better care of him than the wonderful people at DEAN .If you want a guitar that can keep up with brands like Taylor or Gibson for a reasonable price Charlie recommends that you "GO WITH DEAN GUITARS".
