Formed in 2006 by founders Rob Lowe and Michael Muller, Balmorhea play textural post-rock with a classical influence. Using the talents of Aisha Burns (violin), Nicole Kern (cello), and Travis Chapman (double bass), the Austin, TX, quintet utilizes plaintive strings as well as a host of other instruments played by Lowe and Muller to create a delicately layered and pastoral sound.
