This is the original cast recording by Savannah River Productions, Inc. of the new musical, Nanyehi, by Becky Hobbs and Nick Sweet. There are eighteen new songs on the album. The musical is based on Hobbs' ancestor Nanyehi, also known as Nancy Ward. Her husband, Kingfisher, was killed in battle, and she took up his fight and led the Cherokees to victory over the Creek tribe. Nanyehi was known as the Beloved Woman of the Cherokee. She advocated peace during the Revolutionary War era while her cousin Dragging Canoe called for war.
