Triumph of the Spirit
Jeffrey Fisher grew up in a small town, in a small house, in a small room. For his first birthday, his parents gave him a drum. Maybe they thought he'd tire of the drum after a few hours, but Jeff knew he had to practice to be good at it. Three days after his first birthday, the drum disappeared...forever. This was odd, especially in a family that saved everything. When he was seven, and the family moved to a small farm in the country just outside the small town, Jeff was able to practice his new drum...outside in the orchard. Soon, he was in the school band, playing trumpet, French horn, euphonium, drums, percussion, bassoon and saxophone, filling in on whatever instrument was needed. As if these instruments weren't enough, he studied the piano. "There was this girl who lived near the piano teacher... I don't believe I ever missed a lesson."
