Consumption in Three Acts

Consumption in Three Acts

--- IMPORTANT NOTE from Jake Perrine, the composer 2.24.08 --- VAMP is briefly out of stock, as I have just finally sold the last CD of this run. Thanks to those who bought them - they've been quite popular lately! I am, right now, as I type, remixing and remastering the entire show for a re-release by the end of the month. This will be the 20th Anniversary Special Edition of VAMP: greatly enhanced sound quality, a free online libretto with pictures, and access to demos and bonus tracks not in the show! Stay tuned! This will be VAMP as it was meant to be heard, once and for all. Until then, raise a glass and drink your fill. -------------------------------------------------- VAMP is a three act, two disc, electronically composed musical / opera (entirely sung, no spoken dialogue) by Jake Perrine about vampires and consumption. Vamp is the story of three friends, Simon, Rosemary and Carmine, who return to visit their childhood piano teacher Alexandra years later on her now dilapidated vineyard. Their memories of the place and time stir passionate emotions. After copious eating and wine drinking, the night turns darker and dangerous as hidden desires and fears surface. As the truth is revealed for all to see, lines are drawn and sides taken. Who will prove human and who beast? Only the light of dawn will show for sure. In 2000 Jake relocated for a year to New York City to stage a newly revised production of "VAMP - Consumption in Three Acts," which was performed at the Lamb's Theatre in Times Square in March 2001. This is the recording of the cast from that production staring Beverly Butrie as Alexandra, Michael Beneville as Simon, Brenda Bush as Rosemary and John Tedeschi as Carmine. Jake is currently revising his next operatic work, a geo-political sci-fi space opera called "The Device."
