THE PROWLERS were founded in Rome in 1996 with the goal to create and celebrate a musical style between classic Heavy, Power and Progressive Metal. After the Power Metal dominated first release „Soul Thieves“ (2003, Summary of the first 3 demos) and the turning to a more progressive sound with “Devil’s Bride” (2005) the band succeeded on reaching this goal of 1996 nearly perfect with the new album “Re-Evolution”, which again got a strong production of Tommy Hansen (Jailhouse Studios Horsens, Denmark). It can’t be dismissed that there is a stylistic neighbourhood to EVERGREY, VANDEN PLAS and older ELDRITCH, but THE PROWLERS are slightly less progressive and of course they act very independent. For the first time the band is working with a female guest vocalist (Martina Pelosi), which surely is an enrichment of the whole sound. Beside of strong Power Metal songs like the Opener „Red Smoke“ (which is introduced by an atmospheric Intro) and „The Real Me“ and pure progressive songs like „The Profession Pt.1“ or „The prayer“ also the dreamy „Do you feel the same“ and Melodic Progressive songs like „Firefly“ and Wonderful creatures“ are leading to enthusiasm. All in all „Re-Evolution“ is providing the ideal mix of melody, hardness and progressive elements with demanding, intelligent and well thought-out compositions. It is also pleasant that the band don’t use too much modern gadgets. So the Italians succeeded in reaching their goal and additionally a little bit more. They created an album which is not only a mix of their musical inspirations and influences, but also got a demanding lyrical concept.
