Ensemble "Reversio"
The Reversio is a Lithuanian ensemble of chamber music. A distinguishing feature of the ensemble is that early, classical and other music is played with an original Lithuanian musical instrument birbynė (reed-pipe). The Lithuanian birbynė has a unique expressive and contrasting way of sounding which is somewhat similar to such early wind-instruments like the baroque flute, oboe or chalumeaux. It easily adapts itself to the baroque music. The Reversio plays the music ranging from the renaissance, baroque to the 20th century and the contemporary music by Lithuanian, French, German, Italian, English and other composers. The repertoire includes the music of the times of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (12th-18th centuries). The ensemble Reversio was formed in 2003. Musicians of the ensemble: Darius Klišys (soprano birbynė and artistic leader), Mindaugas Radzevičius (organ/harpsichord/piano), Jurgita Šalčiūtė (mezzosoprano), Laurynas Vaitkus (tenor birbynė), Algirdas Jedemskij (soprano birbynė), Eugenijus Čiplys (soprano birbynė), Vytautas Švažas (percussion) and others. The number of performing musicians depends on the music: there can be two to five, or even more musicians.
